Wow, what a day, I didn't know how I was going to run the race, and with just TOU 2 weeks ago, and I struggled at the end of that race, how should I run? At least I was running with Kris and I could hold her hand on the bus. The rain was fun, it was warm at least, but it was just going to be a wet day. I think that helped in a way because my core didn't overheat. Even though it was wet, I keep hydrating. I started out with the 3:30 balloons and it felt good, I walked every mile and I would just try and catchup or at least keep the balloons in site. It lasted though around mile 16. Then my goal was to just stay ahead of the 3:40 balloons. My quads started hurting around 13-14, I had been stretching when I walked and that helped, but I needed to increase the stretching after mile 18. I did cheat, I didn't always walk the 45 seconds, I was anxious to keep going. Then, I started seeing friends and fellow BBKer's passing me, Jody, Kelly, Scott all within the last 2 miles. My Garmin had stopped working around mile 19 so I didn't know my time. I got to the 25.2 mark and a couple were comparing there times.  The time was around 3:30, I was going to make my goal of 3:45. I actually hoped I could make it under 3:40, but that was not to be, it just hurt to much. The 3:40 balloon finally passed me on the last turn and final 1/4 mile. I couldn't even keep up with him.  But, I felt great at the end, I ran a hard race and I met a goal I had, though it wasn't my fastest STG, it was 35 minutes faster than last year. It was fun to see everyone at the end, you had all run great races and met so many of your goals. I am so proud of you all and greatful for your friendships and I'm so glad to run with you. The only disappointment of the day was when Kris didn't meet her goal, but she ran a hard race, this year she has run a 4:10 Boston, 4:08 TOU and now a 4:10 STG. She was maybe a little tired from TOU.  But, we have already figured out new goals and methods for her to met her goals. Sorry for the novel, but you all have gotten me started.
